Replacing social media
When we were seventeen, we sent each other small fragments of social engagement across the public internet. Today the public internet is aggressively filled with other people's stuff. We've been drowned out of our own spaces, which no longer exist. They've been replaced with uncanny social-like spaces.
We didn't choose this, but we must replace our old ways with new ones if we are to stay alive and if our relationships are to be maintained online. I don't believe there are any options apart from variants of a newsletter:
- Prepare a list of recipients.
- Prepare a piece of content.
- Send the content to at least one person on the list.
- Cycle through 2-3 every week/month and 1 every month/quarter, ensuring that all the people on the list are covered by appropriate content.
